Craving some sunshine this winter? Find out why …

Winter time often leaves many of us craving sunshine and warmer weather. Ever wonder why? Approximately 40% of Canadians become deficient in vitamin D (the sunshine vitamin)  during the winter months, so that craving might be a real need! 

The skin creates vitamin D when exposed to UV rays from the sun. Living at northern latitudes where sun exposure is minimal in the winter months, beginning in October all the way to April, can create a deficiency and hamper important body functions, making supplementation necessary and sometimes even critical.
