Summer is officially on the way and we couldn’t be more excited here at Orange Naturals! Warmer weather means we can bring back the chilled drinks, start enjoying the outdoors, and spend time with family and friends out on the patio.
When it comes to cool treats, smoothies are one of our favourite ways to chill out, recharge, and escape the heat.
To help inspire you to enjoy more smoothies this summer (and beyond), here are a few delicious seasonably inspired recipes you can try this summer.
Feel free to tweak them and even add your own extras to make it just right for your taste buds!
Orange creamsicle protein smoothie
Nothing says summer quite like an old-fashioned orange creamsicle! This recipe is brimming with Vitamin C from fresh orange, potassium from the frozen banana, and loads more nutrients your body will love. Start reminiscing this summer with this healthier alternative to a childhood favourite.
Ingredients
- 2 scoops vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 cup unsweetened dairy free milk (such as almond, cashew, rice, etc)
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 peeled orange
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 tsp honey
- 3-5 ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
Blend all ingredients until smooth, top with orange zest, and enjoy!
Fizzy electrolyte pineapple punch
With energy drinks still all the rage, we’d like to introduce a caffeine-free alternative that does wonders for your body. This fizzy electrolyte pineapple punch is just the thirst quencher you’ll need all summer long! Incorporating our MagPop!, a pure magnesium-infused drink, you’ll get a boost of energy without any of the chemicals found in standard energy drinks.
Ingredients
- 1 MagPop! Sachet
- 1 cup chilled club soda
- 3 tablespoons fresh pineapple juice
- Small handful frozen berries
- Optional – tiny decorative umbrella
Add MagPop! to the club soda and watch it fizz before mixing in pineapple juice and finishing with added frozen berries. Top it all off with a tiny umbrella and escape to an island in the pacific!
Green tea watermelon slushie
Summer is patio season, and that means sugary drinks make a huge comeback. Instead of heading to Starbucks for your usual iced latte, why not try a refreshing green tea watermelon drink instead? Loaded with nutrients and antioxidants for optimal health, green tea provides numerous benefits when consumed over long-term periods. Not to mention, it’s one of our favourite ways to detox daily! When you couple this ancient medicinal tea with refreshing watermelon, you know you’ve got yourself a winner.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chilled green tea
- 4 cups chopped watermelon
- ½ squeezed lemon
- 1.5 cups ice
Add all ingredients to a blender until desired consistency is reached.
